The Power of the Penis

As the mother of three boys I've already begun to experience first hand the adventures of boys and then privates.  How is it that such a young age they already become obsessed with themselves?!

Jack and Ewan took to going to the bathroom together some time ago.  You might think this would be nice...quicker trips to the bathroom etc.  Not quite!  That simply means that they can try to pee on each other.  Not quicker, ie I have to clean up their messes.  It seems that they discovered the first time they peed outside that they could aim their pee to go anywhere.  This is a fun game to them.  Not so much for me!!

Sometimes I'll catch Jack in the bathroom just getting all artsy while he is peeing.  Is he trying to paint something??   Sometimes I do wonder!!

This morning Jack actually peed on Sean.  I kid you not.  I could not believe it when he told me.  We went upstairs after breakfast to get ready for the day.  I was putting laundry away (I know, hard to imagine I ever do laundry!).  Jack and Ewan apparently decided to strip right away to get dressed so they were playing around upstaird totally naked.  Sean was crawling around in his diaper since.  I walked into Sean's room and Jack said he peed on Sean.  I did not believe him.  Ewan said it was true.  I asked Jack where he did it...he confessed to peeing on Sean's diaper.  INDEED, there was a little urine on Sean's diaper, on the backside.

I still cannot believe it!!!  How many more adventures must I endure with these three boys??!!  I will admit it is nice having boys since they can go anywhere, but is the payoff having to deal with things like this??!!  Ah, to have a girl who just goes on the toilet and can't miss, well not easily anyway!

Another weekend survived, barely...

Well it was just a thrilling weekend here.  Josh gone having fun while I'm stuck home with all kinds of bodily fluids.  YIPEE!!  Wiping all kind of  diahrrea butts, changing unspeakable diapers, steam cleaning carpets and all the while feeling crappy myself.

Jack and Ewan have recovered, and no messy diapers from Sean lately so I hope he recovered too.  Who knows what it was, other than disgusting and messy!  Saturday during nap I cleaned the family room carpet.  The real fun was Sunday morning though.  I went into Sean's room when he woke and thought to myself I really need to empty the trash can.  Well that was not the problem....he had an explosive diaper overnight and was covered in diahrrea!  So off to the tub he went.  Needed to change sheets of course (which took two washings to get clean) and fumigate the room.  Luckily it wasn't too hot yet so I opened all his windows and turned on the fan.

As if having the kiddos full of it wasn't enough, while Oma and Opa were here for dinner the dog decided to puke all over the place.  Out came the steam cleaner AGAIN!!!!  And somehow Josh managed to miss all this fun.  Why is it that dads never seem to clean up this kind of stuff....whether they are hard at work during the week or somehow out riding dirt bikes with friends on the weekend??!!

Ticker Tape Parade

Most of yesterday improved, that is until bedtime.  I was at the grocery store by myself (such a luxury) when Josh put Jack and Ewan to bed.  I got back, put the groceries away, washed dishes, sat down and played with Sean for a while.  Then it was time to put Sean down.

I took him upstairs and noticed the boys' door shut (they are NOT allowed to shut their door, as this means they are hiding trouble).  Upon opening the door I discovered what looked like a ticker tape parade....only it was all my coupon fliers and cut coupons all over their floor.  Jack was in his top bunk (though I'm sure he helped make the mess earlier) and Ewan was on the floor throwing papers in the air and ripping some too.

I called Josh and had him help the boys clean it up....I was definitely in no mood to be near them at the time.  I was far too livid.  So there goes twelve weeks of organized coupons.  There is absolutely no way to organize it again, just hopeless.

Is it the weekend yet????  Not that it matters much, Josh is leaving Saturday night to go dirt biking all day Sunday.  The boys BETTER behave or Josh may come home to no children!!  Okay, maybe not, but I'm going to have to plan my own getaway soon enough.

Is it Monday???

We had such a lousy start to the morning, I had to question if it was Monday.  Things were running pretty smoothly when we left for the gym just after 8:30 this morning.  We were so close to the gym, and then I hear one of the dreaded noises that a mother just knows.  Sean spit up, but not just a spit up, more like he threw up his entire breakfast.  Luckily he only had a bottle, no food to go with it.

After I parked I the gym I was able to fully assess the damage.  It was as I suspected...Sean coverd all over in spit up, clothes, bare legs and everything else.  His car seat was disgusting too.  I began the clean up.  I took Sean out and took off his clothes immediately.  Then it was off to the back of the car for a wardrobe change.  I put a spare burp cloth in the car seat to cover/soak up the mess and we were off.

THEN when I was dropping off the boys at the gym so I could enjoy my workout Jack decided to have a meltdown.  Out of nowhere he decided he wants to play with Mommy and doesn't want me to leave.  Great, he loves me, but I want to go!!!  After some long talking I gave him some books to read and he calmed down somewhat.  By then Sean is also crying.  He also doesn't usually do that.  Why is everything happing all at once??  Conspiracy against Mommy I tell ya!

I gave up and left, told them if things didn't improve to just come get me off the elliptical.  Luckily I was able to enjoy my workout and nice long hot shower.  They must have recovered and improved their attitudes.  Of course when I went to pick them up Sean was asleep.  He NEVER sleeps there anymore!!  Such a strange day it was.  We made it out and just as we are approaching the car Jack trips and falls while he is running.  The screaming begins and we get to the car to assess his damage.  Two skinned knees and one upset little guy.  I managed to calm him down finally and put on some Neosporin and two Scooby Do band-aids.  Granted, they were too small, but it would do until we got home.

This was all before 11AM!!!  So that is a morning in the life of the Dalrymple Clan!!!  One of our more hectic ones, certainly not a calm one.  I personally am hoping they nap forever today, but deep down I know that is not true.

Finally a chance to breathe....

Everyone is well here after all the excitement over the weekend so I finally have a chance to sit and breathe, thus time to update the blog.

Here are a few pictures from our last full day at Tybee Island.  We went on a dolphin tour and had such fun.  All three boys enjoyed their first boat ride, as did their cousins!  We saw dolphins and lots of seagulls.

Then Friday night Josh and I got a date night!  Thanks to Aunt Susan, Uncle Kenny and cousins for watching the boys.  We enjoyed the best meal of the week.  We had a scallop appetizer and shared pistachio crusted tuna seared to rare perfection with sweet potato suffle and great veggies.  That's my kind of meal...don't go to the coast and waste your meals out on anything else.  It's all about the seafood!!!!

And in other news Sean and I passed our doc visits.  Monday I had my annual physical and passed with flying colors.  Sean had his 9 month visit today and also passed.  He weighs 20lb 14oz (50%) and is 30 inches tall (95%).  That's our big guy, keeping up the family trend!

Our hot summer continues and the boys look forward to camp at the gym in July.  I look forward to spending the 4th of July in the mountains to cool off a little, hike some trails and enjoy some great waterfalls!  Now it's time to look forward to next year's vacation....Weitzel family reunion in Oregon for my aunt and uncle's 50th anniversary.  How does one pack for three small kiddos on a long flight??!!

Welcome Home

The madness  continues!!!  Yesterday morning we left the island shortly after 9.  The boys were loud for a while, but eventually everyone napped.  We stopped for gas and an early lunch at Chick Fil A.  It was crowded when we got in....guess everyone headed to the beach or coming from the beach was stopping there.  LOTS of families (after all it's a decent place to get fast food for kids AND let them play).  Josh took the big boys potty and I got in the long line for food.

All was good.  We ate and the crowd grew.  The big boys were playing and the crowd was HUGE....I got in line for the bathroom which took a while.  We finally managed to get everyone fed finally headed out.  No sooner are we on the road and Jack and Ewan announce they are hungry.  What pigs!!!  What will we ever do when they are teenagers?!

We arrived home just before 2PM.  Josh unloaded the car, I fed Sean.  In what seemed like forever I managed to unpack absolutely everything and put it all away AND make a quinao salad....by 3:30 the boys and I headed to a birthday party.  What a busy day!!!

All the boys had a blast at the party.  Jack and Ewan had such fun in the hot tub.  Sean enjoyed the baby pool.  We ate and socialized.  It was great fun.  Josh stayed home to get a little work down.  We got home shortly after 8 and it was time to get ready for bed.  I did dishes....and FINALLY by 9PM I was able to sit down and "relax" a little bit.

Then the fun began.  Jack and Ewan both got up once.  When they are overstimulated they never seem to sleep well.  But that wasn't enough.  Around 3AM Jack woke up again.  While in the hallway on the way to his room I could hear it.....he was vomitting.  GREAT!  So I had to change his sheets....absolutely no fun changing the top bunk in the middle of the night.  Luckily vomitting didn't scare him as it has in the past and he did quite well and was ready to go back to bed, so was I.  Then maybe 30 minutes later he did it again.  This time we took him downstairs.  I sat and watched TV with him for a short while.  Went to bed again.  AND then AGAIN!!!  I believe all in all this happened four times!!!  So I was up from about 3AM to maybe 5:30 or so since it took me forever to fall asleep.  Then of course Jack was up and ready to go by about 7:15 and the other boys shortly thereafter.

WELCOME HOME!!!  And better yet, Happy Father's Day Daddy!!!

Sean on the Beach

Beach Boys

The gang continue to enjoy their time on the beach.  It will be difficult going home, they will miss it terribly.  Here are more pics from this morning, which by the way was perfect for the beach (poured last night and still overcast, not too many people there).

Josh's fortress....hard to make without the boys destroying it!

Snack break!

So how does sand taste anyway??

Helping Daddy...and I use the word help loosely!!!

Sean getting ready to destroy Josh's work!

Check out Sean's buff beach body!!!!!

Ewan checking out a jellyfish.

Boys will be boys....throwing sand.

Still searching for a photo of all three boys looking nicely at the camera!!!!
Maybe before we leave we'll get that ellusive shot!!

Forsyth Park

This morning we went to the park and had some fun.  The boys all enjoyed the playground and sat for some pictures....of course never all three looking the same direction at once!!!

Pool Day

Yesterday the boys spent the morning and early afternoon with their cousins at their condo pools with a short trip to the beach too.  We have three beach boys on our hands....LOVE the pool and the beach.

Then last night after a walk around our neighborhood and out the pier we stopped for an ice cream cone.  Just after we got them....it began to rain.  We started to walk home and then it really poured...Sean did not enjoy getting wet in the rain, Jack did not enjoy his ice cream cone getting wet and melting!!!

Wet Sean made it home!!

Finishing what's left!

More adventures in food....

Just a few more entertaining pictures related to eating....

Sean was FINALLY able to keep solids down!!
We tried puffs several times and he always gagged, the other
day he was enjoying them.

Some in the mouth, some on the face!

Oh wait, I think I found some here!!!

Jack and Ewan picking blackberries in the yard last weekend.
Of course they ate them right away!!!

Jack and Ewan are enjoying Sean being able to eat puffs and yogurt melts too....the sit on the floor and wait for him to drop some so they can eat it too!!  Just like dogs!!!!!!!!!!!!
