Treasures from Emmie M

Just the other day a package arrived from the Emmie M (the boys' surrogate Grandma in Milwaukee). I was thrilled to open it...the Emmie M never disappoints us. Ewan got a handsome button down shirt and another button down shirt with belted khakis for his birth present. Jack got some amazing pjs and a robe for his belated birthday present.
There is a story behind Jack's pjs. After Jack was born we received an absolutely adorable pair of pjs from friends in England. They are the two piece cotton button down style....classic style for adults but extremely difficult to find for children. So Emmie M had her daughter, Katie, hunt us down some pjs for Jack. She lives in Ireland so we thought she would be able to find something fun.....and she did!!! Jack received some plaid pjs with an airplane embroidered on them and a matching bathrobe and teddy bear and another pair of pjs with a space theme.

Now it's just a few days until they open their Christmas presents. Time flies by so quickly!! Hard to believe it's already Jack's second Christmas and Ewan's first. They must have been good though, there are plenty of presents for them under the tree!

Santa Scare

Over the weekend we had brunch with Santa. As expected, Jack did not care for Santa. He enjoyed his brunch though...what little boy wouldn't enjoy a dinner roll, potatoes, crackers and apple crisp with ice cream!! He wasn't too keen on anything else that day. Luckily he usually is a good eater. Ewan of course slept through the entire meal. So then after we all finished it was time to take a picture of the boys with Santa. Jack started crying and clinging to Daddy as soon as he saw that scary man! So we started out with just Ewan and Santa, hoping Jack would see Santa was harmless. That didn't work. Eventually I had to stand with Jack and he slowly stopped crying and smiled for a pretty lady. So we have a picture of Mommy and her boys with
Santa...we can only hope next year will go better!

Yesterday the boys were quite the troopers. Mommy and Oma took them shopping in Charlotte for the day. We left around 9:30 and did not get home until 6:30! Jack was in a car seat, high chair or stroller nearly the whole time and only fussed when he leaked through and got his pants wet and we wouldn't let him run around the restaurant. I think it was all a ploy for new pants...I actually packed an extra shirt for him, but no pants. Needless to say our first stop was to get him a new pair of pants to put on immediately!! Oma and I had great fun and got both boys several things. Boys clothes are so cute now!! Some were Christmas presents and others for later. I even spoiled myself and bought a pair of shoes....seems I only buy stuff for the boys these days and thought it was time to get myself something.

Today Jack is now busy running all over the house since he got very little play time yesterday. I'm trying to get my Christmas cards addressed so I can get them in the mail. We're pretty much ready for the holidays now, just need to get a couple presents out in the mail and find some stocking stuffers for Daddy and Ewan.

First Day Alone

So here we are now, home for 2 weeks already. Today is my first day alone with the boys. Josh was with us the first week and my mom was here the second week to help. So far so good, we're all still alive!! We even survived the pediatrician's visit, of course Josh went with us!

Ewan continues to be very unpredictable in his sleep patters. Some nights are good and others not. Last night was a long one so I'm working on little sleep today. It's amazing how the body adjusts to minimal sleep!

Jack continues to be a good big brother. He loves walks with the stroller and helping rock Ewan in the bouncy chair. He does sometimes act up when I'm nursing Ewan...he knows he can get into trouble since I can't chase him! He's too smart for his own good. His latest favorite thing is playing with his rocking chair. I brought it down from his room so now he loves to rock in it in the family room. Unfortunately he also thinks it is a great toy to push all over the place and chase the dog. He also loves to use it to climb onto things....it's back up in his room again!

We have moved on from new baby phase to Christmas preparations. The decorations went up over the weekend and now I just need to decorate the tree. It's hard to believe Christmas is so close.

Greetings All

Just a quick note to update everyone on our latest addition and following adentures. Ewan Joseph arrived November 22 and life hasn't been the same since. He was another big boy, though not as big as his brother Jack. Ewan was 9lb 5.8oz and 21.5 inches. Jack is enjoying his big brother role and testing out all the baby products. He likes to sit in the bouncy chair, as does Cosmo the dog. Jack is quite the gentle big brother and usually touches his brother's head gently and pats him nicely. He has been known to take the paci out of Ewan's mouth because he thinks it should be his! Jack also loves his hitchhiker on the stroller. He thinks it is the coolest thing ever, especially when Daddy pushes really fast!

That's just our short and sweet update, we'll add more later as the adentures continue. In the meantime I continue to recover from the c-section and look forward to having full mobility again. Jack is not overly thrilled that Mommy can't pick him up.
