Round Two

This morning I had my fitness orientation at the gym at 8AM...before the day care center opened.  So Oma came over at 7:45 to watch the boys and she would bring them to the gym at 9 when I was done.  Then I put them in day care for a short while to let them test it out.  Well that was the plan.

My session went well and I look forward to using all the equipment...however, the boys aren't cooperating with me!!  I should say Jack isn't cooperating.  I took them into the room and gave Jack a special treat to help ease him into it...he already started getting nervous at the hint of me leaving.  So after much crying and clinging I never did make it back to the gym for a cardio workout.  I stayed with them for 45 minutes and no amount of bribery worked on Jack.  Ewan was fine playing there, but Jack was stuck on me.

We'll keep trying!  I'm determined to make this work.  I've got a few more tricks up my sleeve....

Updates

So much to update, yet I probably can't remember it all!  We all recovered from our stomach bug, thank God!!  It was rather unpleasant.  So Sunday we had cabin fever and everyone, especially Cosmo, needed to get out of the house.  We went for a hike at Sesqui.  When I say hike, perhaps it is better explained as a stroll through the woods since both boys walked too.  Ewan really dosn't like being in a carrier so we move slowly.  Jack had a blast...he got to walk Cosmo (amazingly she behaves for him, if Josh or I have her she is a wild beast), he splashed in some major puddles, he peed in the woods AND pooped in the woods (he thought this was WAY COOL, especially since it was yellow poop...which he still talks about)!!  Ewan enjoyed nibbling on pinestraw, playing in the sand and roaming around on his own.

Then yesterday for the first time both boys were in a day care situation.  I just joined a gym....so they spent some time in the day care room there while I worked out. Needless to say they didn't do so well.  They were playing when I left them but apparently Jack started crying right after I left, which got Ewan crying.  At least they waited a full 30 minutes before they came to get me so I managed to get some time in on the elliptical machine.  We'll just have to keep trying until they get used to it.

After they were "traumatized" at the gym, last night we all went to the USC v. UK basketball game.  It didn't start until 9PM so we knew it would be a tricky night.  Ewan has been really fussy lately with his teeth anyway, and yesterday Jack was being an extreme two year old.  We got to the arena shortly after eight and soon after we sat down Jack was already crying to go to bed.  Not a good sign.  Luckily once the game began it caught his attention and he did better.  For a while both boys were very excited and having a great time, but then there were the fussy, whiny, tired moments.  We managed to make it til the very beginning of the second half...better off anyway since UK went on to lose!

That's life around here for now.  HECTIC...this teething and two year old behavior are driving me insane.  Luckily I can escape to the gym now, once they get used to the day care there.  Good for my mental and physical shape!!!

Here's a few pics from our "hike" through the woods.....

Rough Week

It's been hectic this week....and that's only since Wednesday.  Seems like forever though!!  Wednesday after lunch Jack said he had an boo boo on his tummy and kept asking me to kiss it.  Not too unusual, but then he actually asked to take his nap, that was unusual.  Half an hour later he woke up crying...I went up and he had just thrown up on his bed.  That was rather unpleasant!!  So after trying to clean it up a little he came downstairs and rested on my lap, sometimes sleeping, sometimes in the zone and sometimes throwing up.  It was ROUGH!  At least he would sometimes give me a little warning and say his tummy hurt so we could try to get to the bathroom, other times not so much.   He couldn't even keep liquids down.  Luckily by the time he went to bed he was a little better and never did throw up again.  He was up several times that night, mostly to drink.  Then yesterday he was up and back to normal....FULL of the devil!  He still didn't eat much, but otherwise OK.

Our best guess was it was something he ate, but even then we couldn't figure it out.  But oh well, at least he was fine and nobody else got it.  SO we thought until today.  We went out to lunch with Oma and Opa today....Jack was asking to see Opa forever and they just got back from vacation in Arizona.  Neither of the boys ate much, no suprise about Jack, but Ewan still usually eats quite well.  So he was getting fussy, his teeth I assumed (his molar has been driving us all nuts lately)!  I gave him his paci and he took it out, instantyly I knew something was wrong and before we knew it he did a  projectile vomit.  LOVELY!!  He managed to get it on his clothes, my sleeve, all over the floor and on my purse.  Jack started freaking out, upset Ewan was sick and wanting Mommy.  Opa had to calm him down while I tried to clean the mess.  I don't keep spare clothes for Ewan with me anymore, big mistake!!  So I took his sweater off, had a shirt on underneath.  Then I got him Jack's spare jeans, good thing they are close in size.  So after much to do we left, Ewan asleep in the car within seconds.  He is still sleeping and now Jack is napping as well.  I'm exhausted!!!  Hopefully this won't last long.  I'm hoping it's a good sign that Ewan hasn't thrown up again.....

In other news....Jack was very excited to get his new shoes this week.  We looked in several stores and couldn't find anything I like.  So finally I ordered him a pair of Simple shoes, our favorite brand that Ewan got for his birthday.  So I told him which day the brown mail truck (UPS) was bringing them.  When the doorbell rang he yelled "Jack's new shoes"!!!  He was so excited and put them on right away.  They are indeed cute...hard to find in a boy's shoe!!

I'm sure there is more, but I'm a little sleep deprived lately and can't think clearly!!!

Jack passed out on the wood floor....he WANTED to lay there!

Cupcake Bandits

Today we went to a birthday playdate and had a blast!  It was at a new place called Bouncerific and the boys LOVED it.  They have all kinds of bouncy playhouses, a huge inflated slide, puzzles, lego table, books, dress up area....  We will definitely go back there!!  Both boys LOVED the slide.  Jack would go up and down forever, saying "so fast"!!  Ewan loved to slide down backwards on his tummy...of course I had to carry him up since the steps were pretty steep though.

So anyway, the boys are now the cupcake bandits. Jack was seated next to the birthday boy and Ewan was getting ready to eat his cupcake standing up (the "chairs" were actually upside down buckets so Ewan couldn't manage it on his own)...well apparently I wasn't fast enough for Ewan because he stole DJ's cupcake and started sucking up the frosting!!!!!  So we gave DJ Ewan's cupcake since he hadn't touched it yet.  Both boys gobbled up their cupcakes, Ewan for the first time showing major interest in frosting!!  When Jack finished his he grabbed DJ's and started eating it too!!!!  Poor DJ!!!

Fun with Oma and Opa

The boys just enjoyed their second evening in a row with Oma and Opa.  Last night they went to Oma and Opa's while Josh and I went to dinner for date night.  We had a fabulous dinner and the boys had a blast with Oma and Opa.  Ewan didn't even notice we left!!  They played with their wooden trucks and cars...discovered Daisy's ramp was great for toys too!!!  Ewan was having fun with Oma too....kept going to her for hugs even after we went back to pick them up....guess he didn't miss me at all!!  That's great to hear.

Tonight the boys and I went to Oma and Opa's for a taco dinner.  Josh was out of town so I enjoyed not having to cook or clean by myself!!  And the big news is Ewan LOVED dinner!!  I gave him refried beans, taco meat and cheese all mixed up.  He is usually very picky but it worked!  He is slowly expanding his horizons at mealtime!!  They had fun playing with their cars again.

Ewan is developing all the time now, seems like nearly every hour!!  He is really trying to talk.  Last night he started calling Daisy "DayDay" and he has several other words he tries to get out too.  He tries to do nearly everything his big brother does!  He is more and more a little boy every day.  He is just way too precious!!!!

My how time flies, another year already.  It's so hard to believe my "babies" are already one and two years old!  So we'll take this time to do a photo comparison over the past year....
