So back to the cookie exchange playdate at our house yesterday. It went well, other than of course Jack's cookie theft!! Yesterday when I was putting the boys down for their nap I noticed it was a little cool in their room. At the time I didn't think too much of it, maybe I just had a chill. (Their room normally is actually quite warm as they get full sun in the afternoon, but yesterday was very chilly, well for here anyway, at only about 40 degrees).
A while after nap I went back up to their room to release Jack from his timeout. When I found him he was playing with the blinds so I scolded him for that. He then informed me that his windows were open. Indeed they were, the two side windows!! The middle one was also unlocked. After some prompting he told me that his friend N and Ewan did it. Not sure if this was true or not I semi believed it.
Later I talked to N's mom and found out indeed he does know how to open windows! So it seems they did it. Not that they broke anything or did any damage, but it definitely wasn't safe for the kiddos to be upstairs by themselves with windows wide open and just a screen to keep them in. We'll see if Jack and Ewan try this now too. If so I guess it's one more thing to child proof!!
Always something around here......

My Sweets Devil
Yesterday was another fun day at Chez Dalrymple. Sean woke up first, or so I thought!! While I was changing Sean's diaper first thing in the morning I could hear Ewan in the hallway. When I finished I headed downstairs with the two boys. While I was in the family room getting ready to give Sean his bottle Jack ran in and opened his mouth and said "look what I got". All I could see was somthing dark, hoping it wasn't blood (it was still dark outside and I didn't have lights on yet). Then he said "I got cookie"!! He was very proud of himself. I asked him where he got it, he informed me off of the counter. The previous day we baked cookies for a cookie exchange and I had them in tupperware on the counter, didn't think about Jack coming down by himself first thing in the AM to eat them!!! (Right now we have no gates up due to a recall and it's killing me! Can't keep boys contained to one level of the house).
Well later I hear Cosmo making lots of noises in the dining room. Seems she was trying to get in the boys' fire station. I asked Jack if he ate his cookie in there and he said yes. So she was just trying to clean up I guess!! Jack said he shared with her!!
Luckily I had the cookies for the exchange on top of the fridge so he couldn't get them (I actually did that more to keep Cosmo away from them). During the exchange we also decorated gingerbread men....Jack ate a fist full of M&Ms, lots of sprinkles, licked the frosting off the cookie and asked for more!!! He was a wild man!! He also ate sprinkles off the floor before I had a chance to clean up.
The kiddos were playing upstairs and Jack came down saying he had to go potty. I sent him to the powder room (moms were chatting in the dining room). I thought it took a while so I checked on him. Jack was stealing cookies!!!!! I really should have known given his history, especially Thanksgiving and his birthday party. Luckily he only disturbed mine, nobody else's cookies. BUT he got my favorites!!! I had one dozen of the hershey kiss cookies.....he ate the kisses out of 8 of them!!!
Enjoy the picture of his damage, notice the missing kisses and bites!!!
More playdate antics to come....

Culture
Today the boys got cultured...we all went to the ballet this morning. Jack, Ewan and Sean all enjoyed seeing the Nutcracker. OK, so Sean slept through half of it and had a bottle later, but still. All things considered the bigger boys did well. They sat pretty much all the way to intermission. After intermission, however, they were more squirmy and I couldnt't control them since I was feeding Sean. It was a challenge....I had to hold and feed Sean while either holding down Ewan's seat or crossing my leg to put my foot on Ewan's seat. Even though Jack and Ewan are big, they are not big enough to hold down an auditorium seat!! They sat folded up sometimes or Jack sat on top of the seat.
I certainly got lots of looks walking in and out of the auditorium....either "you're crazy" or "you're gutsy"!! I had Sean in the sling and Jack and Ewan each holding a hand. We managed to get a parallel parking spot directly in front of the Koger Center which was great. It did mean we had to cross a VERY busy street, but we did quite well. The adventure was after the show. Jack and Ewan were full of energy and hot to trot so we went straight to the car. I strapped them in their seats and then changed Sean's diaper in the back of the car (that would be why I insisted my new car have a hatchback)!! Well as soon as I opened his diaper he decided to pee (maybe the cold air triggered it)! So now I need to clean a few dribbles out of the car!!
We went with our playgroup and all the kiddos did well. It's nice to know I can take the boys to something longer and they will do relatively well. They have also been to the children's theater and marionette theater and enjoyed productions there.
Jack is very into the holiday season. We drove by the big Christmas tree at the State House and he said "I see Christmas"!! He also liked the tree at the Nutcracker. Wait until he sees a tree in his house!!! Not sure how I'll keep the boys out of that! I see lots of ornaments being taken down!

Problem Solved
Just ordered Ewan's set of china, and one for Sean too. Now everyone will have their own set. After Ewan gets his for Christmas I'll have to sit the boys down for a "proper" afternoon tea. We'll see how civilized they can be!!!!

To gift or not to gift...
So I've come up with a problem with Christmas presents for the boys. I just found an adorable set of china for Ewan. I know, most people won't understand this, china for kids?? Jack has the Peter Rabbit set from Royal Doulton, a baby gift from his dear Emmie M. Anyway, he loves to use it, especially the mug for his hot tea. So now Ewan is using regular cups too and he doesn't have a mug for his hot tea. He uses Jack's other cup, a plastic mug with "Jack" on it.
Needless to say it's time for Ewan to get his own china set. The problem is that I've already gotten each of the boys their two gifts, one from Mommy and Daddy and one from Santa. So do I get Ewan another one? Do I get Jack another one too? Such issues!!! I'm sure this wouldn't be an issue for most people, go ahead and get it. But we really are trying to limit their presents and I've gotten my share and already given lists to family for the boys. I'll have to figure this one out because I really do want him to have it.....anyone who knows me knows that I'm a china freak!!
Yes, I love china. I have three sets myself. BUT....I do USE all of my china. I just don't understand people who have china, whether everyday or fine china, and just let it sit in a cabinet. That is insane!! For that matter, why own anything and not use it (speaking of which....any chance I can finally get rid of those National Geographics when we move??!!). Lately I've had the itch to get new china, not that I will, but I want some!! I love my everyday china, nice blue and white pattern, but I just want a change. Nothing much, probably still blue and white or just white. I've also got my grandma's china which I love to use. I never used it as a child, only because there wasn't enough for all the grandkids. I've also got a piece of Josh's grandma's china....now that's one I NEVER saw used. For that matter, my first Christmas with his family they used paper plates!! What a shock to a china person!! I've managed to change him now, though he still likes to use papertowels for napkins. Guess I can't have it all!
So I've gone off on a tangent again, china will do that do me! Anyway I'll figure it out soon, Christmas is after all just around the corner!!

Thanksgiving 2010
We just returned from a fabulous Thanksgiving get-away. This year we spent the holiday with my family in Atlanta, and as always, we had TONS of fun!!! I LOVE spending the holiday with family, and the Weitzels have been doing it ever since I can remember. When we lived in Wisconsin we trekked (most years) to Ohio. Now that we have more family in the South it's been in South Carolina and Georgia for over 10 years.
This year it was Greg and Nancy's turn to host and they did an outstanding job! All the food was incredibly yummy and we had so much fun with the family. Jack and Ewan LOVE spending time with their second cousins. Some of their highlights were impressing everyone with the daredevil skills on the zip line (both rode it ALONE), cruising down a hill in the jeep ("faster Daddy"), playing in the basement with all the exciting toys, EATING (aka, Jack stealing brownies), a trip to the aquarium.....

Big Boys AGAIN
Yesterday Ewan and Sean had their 2 year and 2 month checkups. I still seem to be the mother to monsterous children!!
Ewan is 37.5" (off the charts again) and weighs 30lb (75th percentile). I got out Jack's book and at this same age Jack was 2.5 pounds HEAVIER and half and inch SHORTER!! That's right, Ewan is taller and leaner than Jack.
Speaking of Jack, seems I forgot to post his three year stats....and seems I forgot to put them in his baby book. Thus, I've got no clue! Well, I know he is 36 pounds, has been for some time now. I'll have to measure again how tall he is.
And then Sean....at two months he weights 13lb 11.5oz (90-95th percentile) and is 24.75 inches long (95th percentile). My heaviest yet at this age (Ewan is number two at 13lb 7oz)!! Ewan was tallest though at 25.25 inches!! Why do I have such monsterous children??!!
Will post birthday pics soon. So much to do and never enough time. I'm just now updating baby books, dating back nearly a year or so!!
