Action Packed Weekend

Somehow it is already Sunday night and I don't know where the time went this weekend.  Friday night we had a bonfire in the backyard and roasted marshmallows with neighbors.  The boys had fun playing in the dark with their friend!

Saturday Josh had to work part of the day so I tried to entertain the boys and keep them out of trouble.  I even managed to get in a short shopping trip (you know me, efficient and in and out in less than half an hour!)to get some jeans for Jack, pjs for Ewan and a few things for myself too.  Amazing how quickly I can get things done without any of the kids (thank to Oma and Opa for watching them)!  Then after nap time it was off to the neighborhood Halloween parade.  The boys paraded down from one cul-de-sac to another with some of the other neighborhood kids.  Then they had pizza, got some candy and played around for a while.

Then it was off to Boo at the Zoo.  What an adventure.  We knew we were in for a wait when we could see all the tail lights long before the exit.  After FINALLY getting to the zoo we were thankful to have ordered tickets since the signs were already up for it being sold out.  Of course we still needed to park...another adventure.  We finally got into the zoo and of course it was packed.  The boys had fun though and eventually got into the swing of actually waiting in line at the candy stations.  Ewan was the best at trick or treating!  Sean had fun too, though didn't care for sitting still in line (not that he got candy either, just the two big boys).   Ewan especially enjoyed the dj, great dance sessions!!!!  On the way home we had to take a detour since the exit towards the interstate home was at an absolute parking lot standstill.  So that was two very late nights in a row for the little tikes.

Then today Jack slept in late as he has a cough and was exhausted.  Everyone was on a funky schedule today, naps at odd hours or not at all.  I did a zillion loads of laundry, Josh finished the tree house and put up the zip line.  Jack and Ewan enjoyed the zip line....once for Ewan anyway.  He crash landed and didn't want to get back on.  Then it was time for haircuts, baths, dinner....

Like I said, an extremely busy weekend.  I'm exhausted again just writing about it!!

The Dalrymple boys marching along.
Maybe next year I'll manage to find the time to make them coordinating costumes.

Sean wouldn't stay still for a group shot!!

Happy boys getting candy!

Flashback Friday

June 29, 2008

Jack riding his trike with Daddy's safety glasses.  Love this shot!  FYI-Sean just started riding this trike too, though he isn't as talented as Jack yet.  Jack really excels in the riding department and Ewan and Sean just don't compare.  Maybe he truly is our future Tour de France rider.....

Pumpkin Patch

Today the fall festivities continued with a trip to our favorite pumpkin patch.  It's at a nearby church and they have the BEST selection.  While we definitely did not need another pumpkin (we already had 7) I had to get my favorite white and orange pumpkin there and some awesome gourds too!!

Scarecrows in the Garden

Today was another festive day.  It must be making up for my deprived childhood (after all I grew up in a home where Halloween was the worst time of year), but I LOVE this time of year.  The changing colors, the weather, the pumpkins....

We started off our day with some pumpkin oatmeal.  It was yummy and all three boys chowed down heavily!  Then after a trip to the gym we headed downtown.  We had a playdate at the Robert Mills House.  They have a Scarecrows in the Gardens exhibit now.  It could not have been better.  The weather was superb, the activities great (story time, making masks, picking pumpkins and drawing on them, playing pass the pumpkin and witch games).

We still have a few more fun activities to get in before Halloween is over....neighborhood parade, Boo at the Zoo, trick or treating...  The fun never ends this time of year!!

Family Day

To say today was action packed it putting it mildly!  Josh had a company wide meeting this morning so the boys and I headed to the farmer's market on our own.  We had fun there as always.  Then it was off to the hobby shop to pick up goodies for Daddy.

After a quiet lunch at home we were off to family day for Josh's company.  It was at Willard Farms which is east of Sumter.  We picked Josh up in Sumter and drove the rest of the way together.  In total it was an hour and a half from home.  Let me say it was well worth the drive and I can't wait to find an excuse to go again!!!!

They have an agriplex where we all jumped and had fun, slides that go through a huge dirt hill, a pumpkin patch, sand box, train rides, hay rides, swings....We didn't even make it to the corn maze we had too much fun doing other things!  The food was good, though the wait long (it was a crowd of about one thousand after all)!  It was good dirty fun!!!!!

For perspective this is what the agriplex jumpy looks like from a distance.

JUMP!!!

SO MUCH FUN!!!!

Sean almost loves it as much as Mommy!!

The dirt mound with slides going through it.
It didn't take long before Jack and Ewan mastered climbing up!
