Growing Boys

Some of you may be wondering why you haven't seen their growth progress lately.  That would be because I was so traumatized by our last doctor's visit!  We went for Sean's one year visit and Jack's four year visit back in October.  It was a complete disaster.

I knew it wouldn't be pleasant since we could only get an afternoon appointment.  That's right, just as they should be going down for naps we were at the doctor's visit.  Plus, the four year visit involves many shots.  PLUS flu vaccines for all three boys.  NOT A PRETTY COMBINATION.

It seemed like we waited forever, both in the lobby and in the exam room.  I attempted to entertain the boys...reading books and doing puzzles on the Nook, playing with Sean. They did somewhat well, except for all the waiting.  Then came the shots.  COMPLETE DISASTER.  Jack was so bad that they had to strap him down.   He screamed, kicked, cried....  I was about to cry myself.  I could have used a few drinks after that visit, I did resist the urge though!!

Anyway, we finally made it out, barely alive.  Jack even screamed all the way home because he didn't get a treat.  After that behavior there was no way he was getting a treat.  So anyhow, here are the results from their visit.  Sean was 30.5 inches long (75%, runt in the family) and weighed 22.11 pounds (55%).  I'm not sure if the length was right or not since that puts him well behind his brothers, we'll see how his next visit goes.  Jack was 43.25 inches tall (95%) and weighed 42 pounds (75%).

Today we went for Ewan's one year visit.  It went much better.  We had a morning appointment (though just barely; at 11:45 it was nearly lunch time).  Armed with lots of snacks, cars and the Nook we made it though quite well.  The three year visit has no shots, yeah!  Jack cried when he found out he didn't need the flu mist again.  He was looking forward to it!  Sean did need his flu booster though and cried at that shot, though it didn't last long at all.

The results....Ewan is 39.5 inches tall (95%) and weighs 36 pounds (72%).  So that sums up our growing boys, more to come soon on their adventures!
