Potty Training Update

We're now on day four of Ewan's potty training.  It's going much better than I expected.  Days two and three each had only two accidents.  Much better than Jack....he peed nearly every 15 minutes.  Luckily Ewan holds it longer!

Ewan likes wearing his underwear, though sometimes he pitches a fit when I make him go potty.  He's doing well.  He will pee when I put him on the potty, just doesn't let me know yet when he has to go.  That takes time though, so I guess we're doing well.

Yesterday we even went out!  We went to Wal-Mart for a quick trip, desperately needed cleaning supplies.  Then we went to the park for pictures, a picnic and play.  No accidents!!!  YEAH EWAN!!!  He's even made it through all naps with no accidents, much better than Jack did.  Mind you, Ewan is three months older than Jack was when he potty trained.

Jack is a supportive big brother.  "I'll sit and watch you pee"!!  Of course, maybe it's the peanut M&M that motivates Jack!!!  Ewan gets one when he goes potty, and Jack gets one too.  Jack also likes to take his pants off so he can hang out in his undies like Ewan!!  Quite the sight here!!!  Jack also likes picking out Ewan's clean underwear if it gets dirty...the other day he came running saying "here's your boxer underwear....they have apples and grapes on them"!!!  He was nearly yelling this as he was so excited, they both LOVE grapes and apples.  Then it dawned on me....he was looking at the label inside.....FRUIT OF THE LOOM!!!!!!

Helpful Technology

Did I mention I finally got a smartphone for Valentine's Day?  Best present ever!!  It came in very handy while we were out of town.  I LOVE IT!!

When we arrived in SLC I looked up the restaurant on the internet, clicked on the phone number and it dialed automatically!!  Great!

While at Temple Square I took pictures of Sean with the camera and was able to instantly email them!  Way cool!

Weather reports, email, internet, etc.  The possibilities are endless and I'm still learning how to use it all.  While out of town I finally learned how to edit my contacts, installed a new app for our playgroup that adds our playdates directly to my calendar....  It's so wonderful!

It's been a busy week!!

So we've already gone over our stalker visit!  I guess we'll continue from there.  After our Valentine dinner at the diner we headed to the hotel where I had some lovely red roses waiting for me.  My dear sweet Valentine planned ahead!!

The first night was uneventful.  Sean slept well, just got up extremely early.  He never did totally adjust to the time change, each morning he was up somewhere between 4:30 and 5:30.  Oh well, at least he slept thought the night otherwise.

Tuesday Sean and I went to the hotel gym, which was a sauna.  It was right off the pool so the humidity level was extreme!  I had to workout in two phases since Sean had a poopy and needed a bottle shortly after I started the first time.  After cleaning up we went out for a walk to Super Target and then to lunch.  I found a neat place with fabulous butternut squash bisque and a cranberry turkey sandwich.  We headed back to the hotel for nap time.  Sean wasn't thrilled with the walk because of the wind.  It was EXTREMELY windy.  After nap and Josh got home we went out to add me as a driver to the car and then had some YUMMY Indian food for dinner.  Stopped by the mall where I got a few things and then went in for the night.

Wednesday I planned on going to the city, but once again the wind was horrible.  It gusted up to 80 mph so we stayed in most of the day.  Sean and I went to the hotel gym again, this time they had a fan in there and the door ope)n so it was slightly better.  Other than that we just went to lunch, this time for a chicken rice bowl with peanut sauce (lots of veggies and yummy).  Josh called while Sean was napping so I woke him and went to pick Josh up from work.  Later we went our for a great seafood dinner.  The wind was still EXTREME and later in the evening the snow began to fall.

Thursday after the front came through the wind was finally gone.  There were a few inches of snow on the ground and it was beautiful.  Sean and I finally were able to go to the city.  We walked around Temple Square and parts of the city nearby.  Then we drove by the state capitol and went to lunch.  Josh was done with work relatively early and we all drove up to Alta, a famous ski area there.  Not much to do if you don't ski, but the views were gorgeous.  Then we went to Ruth's Diner for dinner (another Diners, Drive-ins and Dives location.   We split the meatloaf which was absolutely divine.  Then it was time to head to the hotel and pack.

We enjoyed our time in SLC...short work hours and short commute for Josh, only one (and the quiet one at that) munchkin to take care of, lots of good meals, beautiful mountains....  But the gig was up.  Time to head home to reality.

We picked up Jack and Ewan on the was home from the airport.  I think Oma was relieved!!  She did very well with the boys and enjoyed her QUIET after they left.  Spend some time with them and you too will realize just how much you appreciate quiet time!!

Saturday we went to the farmer's market.  We had breakfast there, and more importantly, we got our chocolate brioche again!!!  I think that's why Jack and  Ewan love the market some much and talk about it all the time.  Josh worked on the table later and the boys helped,  It was a beautiful day, about 75 degrees.  And then at dinner time Sean had his first meal of rice cereal.  Needless to say not much of made it down!!

And today the real fun began....we're potty training.  That's right, Ewan is finally learning to use the potty.  He's been getting acquainted with the potty and gone several times already, mostly right before bath.  We've already had several accidents, though not nearly as much as Jack did when he first began.  We'll see how it goes.  Needless to say Josh is gone for this fun...out dirtbiking!

So that's my busy week, and only going to get worse with all the potty training!  Wish us luck!!!

Stalker Visit

Yesterday Sean and I met with his personal stalker.....Emmie M met us at the Chicago airport on our way to Salt Lake City.  Needless to say she was THRILLED to meet Sean for the first time and can't wait til her visit in early April.  Josh stayed behind security since it was easier than lugging around the car seat and going through security again.  Luckily I didn't have any problems, no long lines.

We did survive our travel day.  We managed to pack for the three of us with just one checked bag, one carryon and a diaper bag.  We gate checked the carseat and stroller.  That's right, all that for the three of us.  AND that includes workout clothes and shoes for me, an endless supply of burp clothes and bibs for Sean, diapers, formula, bottles, even Sean's Bebe Pod seat.  So don't ever complain to me about not being able to fit things in an airplane!!!!

We had a great Valentine's dinner....an EARLY one since we were on Eastern time.  We went to Blue Plate Diner (a Diners, Drive-ins and Dives location) and had an onion ring appetizer and shared a portabello mushroom, hummus and spinach sandwich.  YUMMY!!!  Not what you'd call romantic, but definitely yummy.

Sean was still on Eastern time this morning.  He went to bed early last night and was up extremely early this morning.  He's resting now and I hope to chill too.

Sean and his dear sweet Emmie M!!

Love at first sight!!  Sweet Valentine.

Realty Bites

The reality of realty bites!!  We're STILL looking for a house and STILL trying to sell a house.  We knew it would be difficult, yet somehow I didn't think it would take this long to find a house.  I'm so ready to just move and be done with this.

It is extremely frustrating trying to find a house, sell a house and take care of three busy boys!  The most frustrating part is keeping the house clean, and yet NOT ONE SINGLE PERSON HAS LOOKED AT IT YET!  That's right, not one person.  Needless to say my cleaning standards are lower now than when this all began.

This weekend we've got a few more houses to look at.  Wish us luck!!  One sounds great, but of course they all sound good, looks are another story.  This particular one is a little over budget, but hey, why not look and be tempted!  It's also HUGE, as in 3900 square feet and an inground pool!  Of course we don't need that much house, especially since we don't even have that much furniture, but like I said, it sounds good.  We've only seen on arial photo which looks nice (it's not even on the market yet so no MLS listing or photos to see, we're getting a preview).  We also have two other to check out, schedules permitting.

And of course we need to pack this weekend!!!!!  After we ALL look at houses Sunday we drop off the big boys with Oma and Opa.  We wish them the best of luck!  Poor Oma will be on her own Wed-Fri since Opa is going to California.  Hopefully Jack and Ewan will be on their best behavior for her.  At least she can take them to the gym everyday!

First "emergency" doc visit

Well I knew it was bound to happen with three boys, and frankly we're lucky it hadn't happened yet.  Wednesday morning (while the painter was here mind you) Ewan cut his lip, DEEPLY.  He was playing on the top bunk with a pillow and of course I TOLD HIM TO STOP.  And of course HE DIDN'T OBEY!  So while he tried to throw the pillow over the side of the bed he wacked his lip into the side railing.  Almost immediately I could see the blood gushing all over.  I managed to grab him after just one drop got on the bedspread (and I JUST CHANGED THE SHEETS)!!!

So he laid on the floor and I put some washcloths on his lip.  It took a while but the bleeding finally slowed.  Just then the painter was done of course....told him I'd be down in a minute, I had a gusher upstairs!!  So now we have blood on Ewan's clothes, the bedspread and the carpet.

We make it downstairs and I can better assess the damage.  It's a pretty deep cut so I decide to call the doctor.  "Can you be here by 10:30"....sure why not, it's only 10:10 now!!  So I rush to clean the blood off the carpet before it dries and load up all three boys.  (While I was cleaning the carpet Ewan chewed through his ice frog and made a mess of course)!  We pull in the parking lot at exactly 10:30, only a couple minutes late to the office.

As I suspected they don't do stitches near or in the mouth.  Basically keep a close eye on it for swelling and wash it with saline solution.  Great, so now we have to clean his eye AND lip.  He's really going to LOVE us!!

And in other news....yesterday we enjoyed the ballet again.  Jack was looking forward to it since he enjoyed The Nutcracker.  This time we saw Beauty and the Beast.  Both boys did very well (as did Sean).  Jack, however, had a mini meltdown when the Beast came out.  He was afraid of him!!  He started to cry and sat in my lap.  He later got down and "hid" behind the seats.  He sat on the floor and peeked through the seats in front of him.  IT WAS TOO CUTE!!!  My "tough" little guy was afraid of the Beast!!  He is sensitive about violence....I think it was more the Beast's actions that scared him than his appearance.

That's about all we have.  STILL looking for a house and trying to sell our house.  Looking forward to leaving town for Salt Lake City!!!!  How to pack?????  Luggage limits on planes and packing for Sean too in a cold climate, could be tricky, especially since I still want to take workout clothes for the hotel gym!
