Best Buddies

Just a couple shots of some naps this week...when they actually do nap!!!

Jack's First......

ear infection!!  That's right, at 3 months shy of his third birthday Jack just got his first ear infection.  Everyone at the doctor's office was amazed he's gone this long without ever having one...never been on an anti-biotic in his life!!!

Late last week he got a cold/cough and of course Ewan got it too.  Then Jack complained about his ear hurting.  As suspected it was an ear infection.  Oh well, couldn't avoid it forever!!!  Needless to say Jack and Ewan have been whiny and fussy with their colds and driving me insane.  They also have had several days of no or short naps, not a pretty sight for anybody!!!  Ewan gets extra whiny and cranky while Jack gets full of the devil and is a holy terror.  I'm worn out!

We've been lucky to have Oma.  Not sure what we would do without her!!  I certainly wouldn't have 3 kids so close in age if she didn't live near us!!  She's watched the boys twice this week while I went to the OB and got a haircut....and she started helping me clean.  Needless to say this huge belly gets in the way in addition to the hip and sciatic pain so she mopped the floors and cleaned the bathrooms.  Your my hero Oma!!!!

We may be 9 weeks away from D3's arrival but nearly everything is in place.  Clothes all washed and hung up, swing out, car seat ready to go in the car...just need to raise the crib and put in the bumper and gather up the last of the things we need.  It's a short list and Oma already has her pick of what she wants to get D3 before his/her arrival.  I just ordered some new cloth diapers.  Want to change to something else/easier for the last munchkin so I'll test a few out on Ewan and if we like them we'll need lots more when D3 gets here.

That's life here...surviving some sick yet rambunctious toddlers, the heat and a growing belly with lots of aches and pains.....

Big Boy Ewan

So we have now survived one week of Ewan being a big boy...last Sunday after we got home he spend his first night in a big boy bed.  Josh set up the bunk beds (though they are separate now since Jack isn't ready for a top bunk just yet) and the boys now share a room.  The first night went better than I expected.  I had to stay in the room until Ewan fell asleep, but after that he did pretty well.  Jack does well being quiet and not waking Ewan while he still plays before he goes to sleep.

Monday, however, was a disaster at nap time!  Jack never did nap and Ewan only for a short while.  We were all miserable after that!!!  It has slowly gotten better, especially at night.  Nap time is still a challenge because the boys really want to play.  Normally Ewan would go to sleep, but he wants to keep up with his big brother who is showing him all kinds of trouble...Jack has started climbing the dresser.  The dresser is now in the closet to make room for the two beds...climbing it allows Jack to reach the top shelf in the closet and get into trouble.  He also likes to pull clothes off the hangers and throw them on the floor.

Needless to say I've been extremely exhausted lately and the boys full of energy since it's too hot to play outside.  Right now I'm in survival mode....10 more weeks to go.  D3 is due to be delivered sometime the week of September 20th!!!  I think I can make it, maybe!!!

Holiday Celebration in Brevard

So much fun!!!  The fire station was open, we saw a car show, played in the bounce houses, went out to eat....

Thanks Oma and Opa

Many many thanks to Oma and for a SUPERB and LONG holiday weekend.  Last Wednesday the boys and I headed to the mountains with Oma and Opa, returning yesterday.  We all had tons of fun.

The weather was absolutely gorgeous.  It was so nice out I actually could play with the boys at the park every day.  That was a special treat for all of us!!  We learned Jack is a natural soccer player (paying attention while watching the World Cup with Oma is paying off)!!  Both the boys are quite entertained by Mommy doing headers!!!

We also had fun at the Biltmore.  Jack and Ewan liked seeing the animals at the barn, especially the sheep yelling for their dinner!  Ewan also had a great time holding a baby chick....Jack took a little while to warm up to that.  And of course we all LOVED dinner there, this time at the pub, Cedric's.

Of course it wouldn't be a trip to the mountains with some bakery goodies enjoyed by all!!!  And a trip to O.P. Taylor's.  We all LOVE O.P.'s....the best toy store ever.

It was more relaxing for me since Oma and Opa were there to help with the boys.  Life is much easier with help!!!  What would we ever do without Oma and Opa???!!!  Glad they will be around to help with D3...it takes a village as they say and family is everything.

Yesterday we managed to have fun at Looking Glass Falls with Daddy before we headed home.  Now it's Daddy's turn to enjoy the mountain air and go dirt biking...a long deserved break from work!!

I'll post photos later....Josh has my computer in the mountains so I'll update things when he gets home.
