EmmieM's Visit

We just had a fabulous week with the EmmieM (the boys' adopted grandma...she has no grandkids of her own). It was an absolutely wonderful week. The boys are getting over their chapped heads...caused by 100s of kisses!!

We enjoyed going out for my birthday dinner, breakfast, lunches. Oma and EmmieM had fun watching Ewan while Jack and I went to our first swim lessons. We had a blast at the zoo with Oma, Opa and the EmmieM. We had dinner at our house, enjoyed bubbles, writing with sidewalk chalk.

The boys got new shirts and matching shorts. EmmieM brought two sets of matching pjs from Ireland. My house has now been invaded by pirates.

And the fun never ended. Can't possibly remember it all. There was plenty of snorting and laughing though!!!

THANKS EMMIE M for the most wonderful visit ever!!!

Celebrations

Cheers to me!!

How do you eat this?!

Check me out in my big boy chair!

Jumpy time!

Tis the season of celebrations in our home. Friday was our five year anniversary and today is my birthday. Five years already, my how time flies! Five years and two kids later we enjoyed our wood anniversary. To mark the event Josh made me a wood wine rack! Yeah!! Friday night Oma and Opa came to watch the boys while we went out to dinner. We had a fabulous dinner at a quaint restaurant in Rembert, SC. It was way out in the sticks and so worth the drive.

Josh installed the wine rack Saturday so the boys and I went to Charlotte with Oma so he could have the kitchen to himself. We had fun, especially at Trader Joe's! Later that evening Jack began his culinary exploration. He loved the lamb meatballs and curry. Nice to see him try new things. He does love his meats! He even ate a couple bites of carrots....progress since he usually won't eat veggies.

The exploration continued Sunday night when Jack ate some scallops and loved that as well. He was pretty much done eating by the time we had the crab legs so he didn't try that. He did, however, enjoy helping Daddy crack the legs!! He also enjoyed putting things in the drawn butter!!!

Ewan continues to grow like a weed. He enjoys his jumparoo more and more each day. He just doesn't enjoy being left alone. He prefers to have somebody to entertain or somebody to entertain him! He is also getting better at sitting in his booster seat and eating cereal. Last night he ate pretty well.

But the biggest excitement is that Emmie M will be here in just hours!!! We can't wait!!! She hasn't met Ewan yet so he's already quite large for her. I'm sure Jack will charm her to death!

Happy Easter

The Easter bunny came to visit the boys!! Ewan got books and Jack got a fancy backpack.

Jack ate a Reese's egg for breakfast!! YUMMY!! Fret not, he also had milk and organic cereal to round out a balanced meal!

Check out my backpack!

Eggs all over the yard!!!

Opa and Ewan playing with a new toy.

Handsome "little" guy!

Big brother reading an Easter story to his little brother!

Today we enjoyed a wonderful Easter. Oma and Opa came over and watched Jack hunt eggs. It was rather entertaining; Jack got highly distracted at times! Then the boys opened pressies from Oma and Opa...some new books for both boys, toys for Ewan and bathtub crayons for Jack. Quite exciting.
We had a wonderful lunch...Honeybaked ham of course, along with potato salad, broccoli slaw, deviled eggs, rolls and carrot cake.
And then the boys entertained us all. Jack loves to entertain his Oma and Opa. He also showed them the photo on the mantle. He just discovered it this morning (put it up a couple days ago). It's a photo of Oma and Opa and the boys. Jack points to it and says "O" (which means Oma). So we had to pick him up and he pointed out everyone in the photo...where's Oma, where's Opa, where's Jack, where's Ewan! He smiled and loved it. It's great to see him recognize everyone in photos too!!
Oma and Opa had a blast spending the holiday with the boys and we enjoyed having them over. Jack certainly enjoyed having a larger audience!

Hunter Boy!!

Collecting eggs is fun!

Look, I found another one!

Check out my stash!

Today we had an egg hunt with our playgroup. Believe it or not Jack actually held his basket and filled it with eggs!! I know, I couldn't believe it. He won't do what I want him to do, but collect eggs, that's another story! He had fun and did very well, only slowing down once he realized the eggs opened and had stuff inside.

Sous Chefs

Let me eat now!!!

Look how strong I am! I can stir!!

YUMMY!!!

Saturday my little sous chefs helped bake oatmeal scotchie cookies. Only one of them was able to enjoy eating the fruits of his labor though. Ewan looks forward to the day he is able to eat them too!!
Jack had a fun time helping Mommy. He even tried his hand at stirring...though for him it was usually pulling the spoon out of the bowl and swinging it in the air!

Whiny Winos

This morning the boys had one their cool wine shirts Uncle Nick got them for the first time so we wanted to take pictures. They are my favorite shirts!! Needless to say the boys were not in the mood to cooperate. Jack was extremely whiny because I took away his new juice cup. It's new, so of course he thinks it is way cool. He also dribbled juice all down his shirt playing with it! He gets full of it that way!!! Ewan was more cooperative, just likes to put his hands in his mouth which makes it hard to see the shirt. It's also a crappy natural light day, rainy and just plain old yucky. So you'll just have to survive with the pictures I could get. I'll work on it again another day when maybe they will behave!

Oh well! This one is for you Uncle Nick!!!

Rough Lesson

Lesson Learned: ALWAYS know where your spare car keys are!! ALWAYS!

Yesterday the kids and I were at a baby shower and had a great time. After playing in the park across from the house where it was held we had to head home for nap time. Jack kept running in the street to go to the park again so I put him in his seat first. I was holding Ewan in the sling so I just shut the door with Jack unbuckled. Once I got Ewan in and had both hands free I would strap Jack in. Well in all the confusion I left my keys on the seat next to Jack's car seat. I wasn't two steps from the door before I heard Jack lock the car. Panic set in!

Luckily it was a relatively cool day, only low 70s, and cloudy. So I knew I had some time to try to get him out. I, along with several other mommies, tried to get Jack to push the unlock button. No luck at all. He did love pushing the lock button though. Jack thought it was great fun playing with the keys, plus he had another toy in the car. I tried to get him to go up front to play with buttons there or get his juice. Only my dear sweet son decided to be a very good boy and not even leave his car seat!! So time goes by and he's getting sweaty.

I already called Josh...he didn't have his keys at the moment. So Oma to the rescue. She was on the way to our house to look for the keys. We had a few thoughts on where they could be. Eventually Josh borrowed keys and went home too. Between the two of them they found the keys and were headed over to save us.

By now I was getting frantic. Deep down I knew Jack was fine, but I couldn't help but be upset. I let my baby lock himself in the car. And by now he was crying. He did well until the last 15-20 minutes. We tried prying the door open, no luck.

And then Daddy, our hero, came and saved the day. Jack was thrilled to see him and get out of the car. He was rather sweaty. He drank all his juice and cooled off with a cold wash cloth. All was good.

It took me the rest of the day to recover, Jack however, recovered after his nap at home! So there it is....always know where your keys are.

The funny thing is I usually leave a door open because you never do know what can happen with two kids. But as you can see, with two kids, one running in the street, you just get caught up and things happen.

Thank God Ewan wasn't in the car too. I would have called the police immediately if he was. He managed to sleep through most of it. I had a paci with me and that was it. His bottle was in the car and it was meal time. Luckily it was one of the times he nodded off and forgot he was hungry!

We're all doing well now and try not to get too distracted!!! Thanks everyone for all your help! Daddy and Oma are the BEST!!!!
